How To Install Kontakt 6 Player

One question that music producers often have is "How do I install unregistered Kontakt 6 libraries?" That's right. Those Kontakt instruments and libraries without a serial code.

This is important especially if you want to create your own sample libraries for the Kontakt UI.

There are sample packs online that are Kontakt libraries, but most people struggle to use them because Kontakt 6 no longer has the add library function. Follow these steps and use your own customized samples in Kontakt with ease.

Please note: If you have not purchased Kontakt 5 or 6, be sure to download the "Player" versions of each Kontakt download mentioned below. All free player versions will only work in demo mode, which only operates for 15 minutes per session .

Quick install unregistered Kontakt 6 libraries (for samples without serial code)

Before you begin you will need Kontakt 5.6 to be able to add custom samples to your Kontakt 6 library. To install Kontakt 5.6, go to https://www.native-instruments.com/en/support/downloads/update-manager/?q=kontakt+5.6&t=updates.

To download, click the link for Kontakt 5.6 (Windows or Mac). If the download does not begin immediately, login/create an account. Then skip to Step 6.

1. Log in or create an account with Native Instruments by going to https://www.native-instruments.com/en/ and clicking the "user" icon.

2. Once logged in, click "My product and serials"

3. Scroll to the section of the page that says "UPDATES, DRIVERS AND OTHER DOWNLOADS", click "LEGACY UPDATES"

4. In the search bar, type "kontakt 5.6"

5. Click "KONTAKT 5.6 Update" for Win or Mac

Note: If this is your first time using the Kontakt interface, you will need to download the Kontakt 5.3 version before you can install the 5.6 update. (The download for this file will be on the same page as the 5.6 update. Just scroll down.)

Also, the free version will say "Kontakt 5 Player 5.3.0 Win" or "Kontakt 5 Player 5.3.0 Mac OS X"

6. Once the file is downloaded, follow the Kontakt installation instructions.

7. Open Kontakt 5.6

8. Install your custom, unregistered Kontakt 6 library (located under the libraries tab)

9. Locate and select the instrument library, click "Open".

If successful, your custom sample library will appear in your library. However, the sample library will not open in Kontakt 5.

10. Open Kontakt 6 or higher to use your custom Kontakt 6 library.

When you open Kontakt 6, your new sample library should appear in your library window. The VST should be fully functional. Download the Kontakt 6 Player for Free

Trouble installing your unregistered Kontakt 6 libraries?

No sound? Depending on your output settings, you may have to change your MIDI channel to "omni".
My new sample library does not appear in Kontakt 6 after adding it to Kontakt 5. Try restarting Kontakt 6.
